Ostraca, Tablets and Inscriptions of the Bible King Josiah Letters Ostraca collection (640 - 609 BC) Shlomo Moussaieff #1 and #2 King Josiah Ostraca (610 BC) Introduction: 1. These two ostracon were the written records of communications between individuals and Josiah, king of Judah in Jerusalem. 2. They surfaced from the private antiquities market recently. Since they did not come from an official archeological dig, there is always a chance these are forgeries. 3. However, both are considered genuine. After careful analysis it has been concluded that the only possible king named on the ostraca is King Josiah who reigned 640 - 609 BC. We are certain that this is correct. See also full outline on Josiah Authorities commenting on the two ostracon currently in the possession of Shlomo Moussaieff: 1. Article 8: The Saving Effectiveness of Christ's Death For it was the entirely free plan and very gracious will and intention of God the Father that the enlivening and saving effectiveness of his Son's costly death should work itself out in all his chosen ones, in order that he might grant justifying faith to them only and thereby lead them without fail to salvation. In other words, it was God's will that Christ through the blood of the cross (by which he confirmed the new covenant) should effectively redeem from every people, tribe, nation, and language all those and only those who were chosen from eternity to salvation and given to him by the Father; that he should grant them faith (which, like the Holy Spirit's other saving gifts, he acquired for them by his death); that he should cleanse them by his blood from all their sins, both original and actual, whether committed before or after their coming to faith; that he should faithfully preserve them to the very end; and that he should ... ...

356: The historical territory of the Moabites in the Bible
... In a kind of domino effect one nation displaced another when Israel entered the promised land under Joshua. Rueben displaced the Amorites from their stronghold and they moved south of the Arnon river and co-existed beside the Moabites. The Edomites were in turn, probably forced south into their historic stronghold area at Mt. Seir, just north east of the Red Sea. Edom remained transjordan from the time of the Exodus. It was not until the Babylonian captivity did Edom first move into the land of Judah. When Israel first arrived at Kadesh (Petra) it was on the border of the Edomites. When Israel first crossed the Jordan with Joshua, the Amorites controlled both Hebron, Jerusalem and Engedi. They were defeated and driven transjordan between the time of Joshua to David. Of course under David and Solomon, they were completely driven east and south of the entire transjordan area for a time, until the Assyrian captivity in 722 BC. A Treatise of the Passions and Faculties of the Soul of Man Edward Reynolds 1640 AD Click to View Click to View See also: History of Psychiatry homepage Introduction: In 1640 AD, Edward Reynolds, a preacher for a church, correctly rejected the quack medical opinions and practices of his day: that mental illness was of physical origin. He correctly saw that "melancholy blood" did not cause mental illness. Today chemical psychiatrists continue this deception by prescribing drugs to the mentally ill because of a "chemical imbalance" in the brain. Doctors of the 17th century and the chemical psychiatrists of today are both wrong in saying the body makes one insane. Instead, they should listen to Edward Reynolds, who correctly showed the etiology of insanity to be entirely the result of spiritual choices and how the guilt from sinful conduct affected both the mind and the body. He illustrates in several ways how a man must exercise self control to keep his sex drive and other passions under ... ...

... It is generally conceded that the rest of the Old Testament was translated into Greek by 100 b.c. at the latest. However, there is some debate as to whether these books were also translated in Egypt. Because of the work of scholars such as Albright who have shown strong Egyptian influences in the Hebrew underlying the Septuagint of the Pentateuch, it has sometimes been assumed that all the Old Testament was translated in Egypt. Bickerman has pointed to the fact that most manuscripts of the Book of Esther contain a colophon which states that the book was translated in Jerusalem. Both Tov and Barthélemy have argued for the Palestinian translation of some other books. At this time, however, not enough data is available to draw any definite conclusions about this matter. (The Transmission-History of the Septuagint. W. W. Combs, Bibliotheca Sacra, 146, p262, 1989 AD) 10. The chronologies also fit-both the bulla and the Biblical context are securely dated to the period before the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem, the bulla by a stratified context in a carefully controlled excavation. Another factor that bears on the identification, it seems to me, is that the bulla of Gemariah son of Shaphan was also found in this hoard. The counter argument that Jesus body had to be different because he could "walk through walls" is 100% neutralized when we realize that Philip was transported 30 miles instantly in Acts 8 and Jesus was transported to the shore 2 miles away Lk 16:21" They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going." The only other counter argument was that Jesus had a body of "flesh and bone" without any blood that is different from the "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom" Cor 15. We feel such a distinction is very week and that taking "flesh and bone" at face value to mean "ordinary human body" is both the obvious and natural interpretation. These two arguments removed, our initial view that the resurrected body of Jesus was identical in nature to his pre-resurrected body is sustained. To further prove this we notice finally that the description of Jesus body in Rev 1:12ff is TOO DIFFERENT from the resurrected body John ... ...

Trinity is used in this quote to refer to the creedal definition of the trinity of the Nicene era 325 AD. All theologians (except for Arians/Jw's and modernists) agree that the New Testament and the earliest Christians viewed Jesus as God. Although Henderson correctly says that the "Nicene concept of Trinity" is not in the Bible, he would say that early Christians and the scriptures clearly taught that Jesus was both pre-existent and fully divine! The deception is in creating a false dilemma that attempts to say: If Nicene trinity is not taught in the Bible then that proves the Bible doesn't teach Jesus is divine. But we could just as easily say this to Jw's: "The doctrine of the prohibition against blood transfusions did not form part of the apostles' preaching, as this is reported in the New Testament, but developed over many centuries... 20 to be exact!" Eusebius, however, does not fail to add: "The Samaritans show other ones near Neapolis, but they are wrong, for the mountains shown by them are too far from each other, so that it is impossible to hear one´s voice when calling to each other." Although this seems to be entirely intelligible and is confirmed by Deut. 27, the Samaritans were by no means wrong. Eusebius was wrong, and everybody knew it, perhaps he himself included. The Samaritans laid claim to the mountains, considering them to be their own holy mountains. Hostility to the Samaritans forced the orthodox Jews in Jerusalem to locate both mountains at another spot, for the Samaritans were not allowed to be right. Eusebius followed the orthodox Jewish tradition. The mosaicist, however, being well informed, preferred a Solomonic solution: he listed the mountains twice, indicating by larger letters that he regarded the location near Nablus as being correct." 372: Anti-psychotic drugs cause Cause Diabetes
In particular, psychiatrists must confront the fact that diabetes, marked by dangerously high blood sugar, is often aggravated, if not precipitated, by some of the very medicines they prescribe: antipsychotic pills that have been linked to swift weight gain and the illness [diabetes] itself. "It's bad enough that these people have mental illness, and then they take treatments [drugs] and they bring on diabetes," said Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman, chairman of the psychiatry department at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Treating the diabetic mentally ill can be formidable. The regimen of blood testing, dieting and exercise that controls Type 2 diabetes is often beyond the attentions of the mentally ill. For patients, the task of taming two debilitating illnesses can haunt their lives. ... We attribute this fortress to the reign of Josiah (639-609 BCE), the last period of efflorescence and expansion of the Judean monarchy before the Babylonian conquest. The smashing of the cult vessels may have been part of Josiah's religious reform (2 Kings 22-23; 2 Chr 34-35). According to the biblical historian, the wide-ranging reforms instituted by Josiah in Judea, initiated because the Book of the Law was found in the Temple in Jerusalem, included repair-ing the Temple, removing the worship of strange gods from Jerusalem and the surrounding villages, and dismantling the high places found within the boundaries of his kingdom. Although our investigations and analysis of the material are still in progress, both the archaeological record and biblical accounts lead us to believe that the shrine was a high place dedicated to one of the "abominations" which King Josiah destroyed in Jerusalem, Beth-el, and other cities of Judea (2 Kgs 23:5-20), and throughout all the land of Israel (2 Chr ... ...

375: Conscious life after death proven from the Bible
False doctrine regarding the state of the dead (Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, Seventh-day Adventists, Herbert W. Armstrong, WCG) When a man dies, his body returns to dust and his non-physical self (spirit/soul) returns to God where he continues as a disembodied spirit continues in a conscious state awaiting judgment. The best Bible verse that describes what happens when we die is Luke 16 (rich man and Lazarus) Both died, their spirits were carried away by the angels, where they were fully conscious. At resurrection, all the dead, good and bad, will be made immortal. 1 Cor 15:54, after which they will either enter heaven or suffer eternal torment, being immortal. They define spirit and soul as breath, blood, energy, life force etc. Spirit is to the body, what electricity is to a light bulb, gas to a car, electrons to a computer When the power is turned off, the computer ceases to operate or "dies" and is no more "alive" than a stone. If a computer is smashed to pieces while it ... ...

"My word will accomplish what I desire and succeed in the purpose for which I sent it." (Isa 55:11) Steve Rudd November 2017 See also: Author's Preface and Master Introduction I. Septuagint Chronology of Gen 5, 11 is correct: 1. Creation dates of all reliable ancient literary sources validate the longer Septuagint Chronology: a. Every reliable literary source before 100 AD uses the longer LXX chronology and not the shorter Masoretic. 2. Both Philo and Josephus were using the extant Hebrew manuscript of their day which followed the longer LXX chronology. a. This is a huge finding because they were NOT using the Greek Septuagint used in Synagogues as their source text, but the Hebrew Tanakh used in the Jerusalem Temple. b. In fact, many scholars make the superficial (and wrong) conclusion that Josephus and Philo used the Septuagint BECAUSE they have the longer chronology. c. The correct conclusion is the Philo and Josephus were using the Pre-Masortic Hebrew Text when the numbers agreed ... ...

379: The Crucifixion Of Jesus
Since the Jews did not have the right to have a man killed without the approval of the Roman governor, they had to take Jesus to Pilate. At the trial they had no evidence of wrong-doing by Jesus, but put enough pressure on Pilate that he finally agreed to have the soldiers kill Jesus by crucifying Him. The place where they killed prisoners was outside the city of Jerusalem on a small hill called Golgotha or the place of the skull. Here they laid the cross on the ground while they nailed his hands and feet to it with great spikes. The cross was then lifted and dropped into a hole in the ground. The entire weight of the body tore at the spikes, and the pain was almost beyond endurance. The blood began to pound through the body as the shock of what was happening began to take its toll. As the cells of the body were broken down it became a living death that sometimes lasted for a few hours, and could even last for a few days. Since Jesus had been whipped before they took Him to be ... ...

380: Lesson 13: Must We Be Baptized To Be Saved?
Master index of 25 studies: "Determine your salvation" Lesson 13 Must We Be Baptized To Be Saved? The will of the Father also includes our being baptized for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we can be saved and go to heaven. In Mark 16:16 Jesus says, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned." This is such a simple command to obey in the way the Lord says to do it. Notice the divine order: 1) Believe + 2) Baptism = 3) Saved. Jesus says that both belief and baptism are required to be saved. But men, at the prompting of Satan, are trying to tell us many other different things that are contrary to what Jesus says. Men have taken what the Lord said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved," and have changed it in every way possible to suit themselves. The following is what Jesus says and also ways in which man has tried to change what the Lord has said. 1) As we have just seen Jesus says in Mark 16:16, "He who believes and is ... ...

381: Lesson 14: The Lord's Supper
This is how we remember the great suffering which our Lord did for us. We proclaim our faith in this great and wonderful deed to the world each time we partake of the Lord's Supper. There are those who partake of only the bread and their priest partakes of the fruit of the vine. This is a perversion of the Lord's Supper. This is not doing it the way the Bible instructs. But notice each Christian is to partake of both the bread and the fruit of the vine. When we partake of the unleavened bread we picture our Lord's body hanging there, suffering in anguish and pain, taking the punishment that was rightly due us. As we drink of the fruit of the vine we envision His precious blood which was poured out for us to cleanse us from all our sins. What great love and concern God and Christ have for us! The Lord wants us to remember what He did for us every first day of the week as the church did in the first century. We are to remember that our Lord gave up heaven to come to this earth for ... ...

(Steven Rudd, 2017) Occupation date = Excavation date + Inscriptional date + Literary date A. Current occupation dating systems are incomplete, short-sighted and unprofessional: 1. It is both short-sighted and unprofessional to date the occupation of an historic synagogue based solely upon the conclusions of an archeological report because "absence of archeological evidence is not evidence of absence". 2. Archeologists know first hand the limitations of professional three dimensional excavations. 3. Archeologists routinely ignore inscriptional and literary evidence of actual synagogue occupation. 4. 384: Dancing and the Bible: Is it OK?
Similar use of the term "dancing" is made by the Psalmist to express joy and praise unto Jehovah God. Since the term "dancing" is capable of expressing a broad range of man's thoughts, it may also portray that which is lewd and sinful. Moses, having received the law from God, returned from the mount to find the people dancing naked around the golden calf which they had formed (Exodus 32:19-26). The dancing of the daughter of Herodias had such appeal to the base human passion that Herod promised to give her anything she might desire, a rash promise which led to the murder of John the baptizer (Matthew 14:3-10). Our "modern dancing", a phrase used to include both ballroom dancing in which there is continuous body contact between partners and such dancing as that which commonly accompanies modern rock music, differs greatly from the dancing mentioned in the Bible, for such present-day dancing has no trace of religious significance, nor is it solo in nature, but involves men and women ... ...

Jer 6:1 actually mentions the use of fire signals: "Flee for safety, O sons of Benjamin, From the midst of Jerusalem! (Jeremiah 6:1) "The fire signals of Azekah are no more" Another amazing confirmation that the Bible is always a 100% accurate record of history! Both Azekah and Lachish were high hill tops in southern Judah and used like modern "communication relay towers" to relay messages back to Jerusalem using smoke signals from hilltop to hill top. Here is direct confirmation from the Bible story on a text written on a piece of broken pottery. When Nebuchadnezzar attacked Judah, he conquered both the cities of Lachish and Azekah. Mental illness is a behaviour choice of the human spirit whose "etiology" is identical to every other human behaviour. The Bible clearly teaches that people suffer both physically and emotionally as a result of sinful choices. The thing that irked Ezra the most, was that the Samaritans were quoting three passages in their Paleo-Hebrew Torah (the one they got from Josiah) as proof texts that their temple on Mt. While Ezra knew they were "twisting and contorting the word of God" he decided to put an end to this dispute once and for all by making 4 minor changes to the Hebrew text that are found in both the Septuagint and the Masoretic text today. 398: The Hermeneutics of the Bible and United States History!
... E. Thus, the vital questions is: "Shall we accept the N.T. as God's Constitution and be guided solely and entirely by it, or shall we assume the liberty to do anything not specifically mentioned in it?" 1. To us, the answer is obvious. III. Consider Some Examples: A. Heb. 11:4 1. Able offered his animal sacrifice "by faith." To do something "by faith" is to do so in accord with God's instructions. 2. Was the "fruit of the ground" just as good as the animal sacrifice? Gen. 4:3-5 3. Could Able have offered both "an animal" and "vegetables" and still be accepted? B. John 4:20 1. Jerusalem was the place to worship. Deut. 12:5-7,11; 1 Kings 8:16; 1 Kings 9:3 2. The Scriptures did not say, "Don't worship on the mountain of Samaria." 3. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it". Now this gets my attention. According to the Bible the majority of people will be lost. L. Woolley and T. E. Lawrence during their archaeological ... Concerning their specific historical background, they alternatively suggested that these fortresses may have belonged to the Patriarchal age, or that they were connected with the Red Sea "adventures" of one of the "Jewish" kings (1914-15: 41). According to the Bible Solomon established a maritime base at Ezion-Geber, near Eilat, in order to carry out trade with Ophir (1 Kgs 9:26), and Jehoshaphat and Uzziah both attempted later to repeat his success (1 Kgs 22:49; 2 Chr 20:36*). Thus, in the view ... ...
