Click to View See modalism as taught by the UPCI Refuted at: Modalism Before noticing the questions we wish to make certain observations: It appears the questions are based upon the King James Version. The author of the questions seems unaware that the words Lord, LORD, God, GOD are translated from various Hebrew and Greek words. When LORD and GOD appear in the King James Version they translate the Hebrew word Yahweh (or the contraction Jah) which the American Standard Version renders Jehovah. The plural Hebrew word Eloheem is translated God. Lord and God do not always refer to each other. The author of the questions was either unaware of 2 - 5 or else ignored those facts. A Greek Septuagint LXX in every Synagogue Translations: Septuagint was "KJV" of Synagogues and Churches "Scripture cannot be broken" (Jesus, John 10:35) Steve Rudd 2017 Abstract: From the tower of Babel, God knew translations of his inspired word would be made into hundreds of different languages yet still carry the same force, authority and message. This is what Jesus meant (in part) when He said that "scripture cannot be broken" in John 10:35. Today Christians regard our translations like the King James Version (KJV) or the New American Standard Bible (NASB) as equal to the autograph in authority. When a preacher reads from his English Bible it is considered equal to the inspired word of God. The words of the English Bible are the words of God! When Jesus began his ministry the Greek translation of the Hebrew Tanakh had been in use so long throughout the entire world that it was considered equal to the original Hebrew. Hebrew went extinct around 300 BC as a common working language ... ...

9: Has the Bible been lost, altered or corrupted over time?
Has the Bible been lost, altered or corrupted over time? When we read the Bible today can we be assured that we are reading in our language the same word of God that was contained in the original manuscripts? It is often claimed by skeptics and agnostics that we cannot be sure of this. They point out that the common English Bible, the King James Version, is based upon late medieval manuscripts and that in these manuscripts there are thousands of variations or differences. They point to the later English translations that differ from the King James, not only in the rendering of the language, but often in whole verses, sentences, or even paragraphs being left out. They say here is confusion, and since we don't have the original autographs, we don't really know that we have the Bible. In the face of these doubts the informed Christian and student of the Bible affirms his complete confidence in the fact that we have God's inspired word today. Modern studies and discoveries make this even ... ...

10: Why Are There Different Versions Of The Bible???
Translation of the Greek New Testament is a very precise science. The New American Standard Bible, for example, was translated over 10 years, by over 45 scholars and was first published in 1962 AD. Similar painstaking work was applied to the production of the New International (1978 AD), and King James (1611AD) and the New King James (1982AD). These translations and others like them were the products of many years of work from scholars from many denominations. Each translation has its own strengths and weaknesses. The King James Version (KJV) is excellent, but you must use a dictionary as you read because it uses language typical of the time it was translated (1611). I recommend you purchase a more recent translation. The New American Standard Version (NASV) is believed by many to be one of the most accurate translations and is an excellent study Bible. The American Standard Version (ASV) is also excellent and highy accurate. The New King James Version (NKJV) is high on the ... ...

12: Calvinistic Pre-destination: definitions and official creeds
"God from all eternity did by the most wise and holy counsel of his own will freely and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass ... By the decree of God, for the manifestation of his glory, some men and angels are predestinated unto life, and others foreordained to everlasting death. These angels and men, thus predestinated and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed; and their number is so certain and definite that it cannot be either increased or diminished." (The Confession of Faith of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., from chapter 111, entitled "Of God's Eternal Decree") "Unconditional Election" is a fancy phrase that refers to what is commonly known as "Predestination." "Predestinate" comes from the Greek word "PROORIZO." This word was translated three different ways in the King James Version - predestinated, ordained, and determined before. The American Standard Version is more consistent and translates the word in every case as foreordained. Click to View ... ...

14: Seven Myths Of Denominationalism!
... The verb denominate is used throughout this book with the meaning of to give a name to with the intent of distinguishing one group from another. Thus, a denomination is a religious organization which has been distinguished from all others by the assignment of a unique name. Those organizations which have as one of their beliefs that they (as an organization) are part of the universal church of Christ (along with all others) will be called the denominations. The doctrines which are generally accepted by all of these groups will be collectively referenced as denominationalism. QUOTATIONS Biblical quotations are from the King James version of the Holy Bible. This is not an endorsement of the King James version -- we have chosen it because it is the most widespread and available valid version. We believe that God's divine providence has assured that the truth can be ascertained from any valid translation. By valid we mean a translation which was objectively interpreted from the most ... ...

16: Coins of the New Testament that Jesus and the apostles used
Originally it was produced in the Tyre mint but when Herod completed the temple in 18 BC (18 months to build) he needed direct control over the most important coin of his new temple: the official Temple Tax shekel. So Herod the Great transferred the production from Tyre to Jerusalem. This is by far the most important coin in the New Testament because it is part of four different Bible stories: QUADRANS: Mt 5:25; Mark 12:42 The quadrans was an Imperial Roman coin meant to circulate throughout the Empire. The size of a Canadian or US cent, the quadrans bore the religious symbols. The King James Version renders this coins as a "farthing", which is an old English coin. ASSARIUS: Mark 10:29; Luke 12:6 The assarius was an Imperial Roman coin meant to circulate throughout the Empire. The assarius was larger than the quadran and usually pictured the emperor. The King James Version renders both this coin as a "farthing", which is an old English coin. DENARIUS: Matthew 18:28, 20:2, 9-10 Mina ... ...

Smith, copiando en gran parte pasajes de la Biblia, en la versión inglesa llamada "King James", copió hasta palabras escritas en letra cursiva, que se usa en algunas traducciones para indicar palabras que no están en el texto original, sino que son intercaladas por los traductores para completar el sentido del pasaje. Compárese 1Cor. 13:5 (versión King James) con Moroni 7:45 (del Libro de Mormón) El Libro de Mormón abunda en declaraciones absurdas. 20: Cheating In School?
Anita Vinson in a little booklet entitled, Putting Christ in Your Classroom, writes: "Jesus is familiar with the little temptations and trials of the classroom. As the Son of God, He set forth principles that will help us. He even died for us so that we might be able to be closer to Him and be able to know that we are not alone when we face that History examination. However, there are two conditions that you must meet if Christ is to be on your side. You must put him first in everything you do, and obey His teachings as found in the New Testament." The word "honesty" or some form of it, occurs eleven times in the King James Version of the New Testament. Paul urges the Romans to "provide things honest in the sight of all men" Romans 12:17. He urges Christians to live "in all godliness and honesty", I Timothy 2:2. It also says of John 1:1: "The qualitative force of the predicate is so prominent that the noun [the·os'] cannot be regarded as definite." So John 1:1 highlights the quality of the Word, that he was "divine," "godlike," "a god," but not Almighty God." (Philip B. Harner, "Qualitative Anarthrous Predicate Nouns: Mark 15:39 and John 1:1." in The Journal of Biblical Literature, as quoted in, Should you believe the Trinity?, Watchtower publication) Someone who is "with" another person cannot also be that other person. Note, however, that here again the context lays the groundwork for accurate understanding. Even the King James Version says, "The Word was with God." (Italics ours.) Someone who is "with" another person cannot be the same as that other person. In agreement with this, the Journal of Biblical Literature, edited by Jesuit Joseph A. 25: What the Bible says about Abortion!
... It cannot be considered plant or animal because plants and animals reproduce after their own kind. It is the result of human reproduction, and humans are distinct from the plants and animals. Therefore the life in the womb of a human mother must necessarily be human! We next ask: is the life in the womb just a part of the mother's body (like an appendix, so removing it is not murder), or is it a separate and distinct individual from the mother so that killing it is murder? This is the issue we must resolve. The Bible (King James Version and most other versions) nowhere uses the phrases "human" or "human being" to refer to anyone, so we cannot determine whether the unborn is a human individual simply by searching for the terms "human being." Instead, the Bible identifies a human person by calling it simply a "man," "woman," "child," "son," "daughter," "baby," "infant," etc. What we need to know, then, is whether or not the Bible refers to the unborn baby by terms that imply humanity, ... ...

The American Standard version and Young's Literal Translation, always uses Jehovah when the Tetragrammaton is found in the Hebrew. Reputable Bibles like the King James version and the New American Standard version do not remove the divine name from the Old Testament. The King James Version uses "Jehovah" many times: Ex 6:2; Ps 83:18; Isa 12:2; 26:4. In the "Principles of Translation" section in the introduction of the New American Standard version, it says: The Proper Name of God in the Old Testament: In the Scriptures, the name of god is most significant and understandably so. It is inconceivable to think of spiritual matters without a proper designation ... ...

27: Sabbatatrians Refuted and Sabbath keepers Exposed: 2011 AD
... Sinai, he likely recognized the need to make these critical clarifications with the appropriate language "tools" he had at his disposal. If these tools were not characteristic of the original language Moses used, the translators who brought the books of Moses into the Ancient Hebrew used the tools they had to make clear what they understood Moses to mean. Note that if this is the case, they were closer in time to the earlier languages that it might have been written in- perhaps like the translators of the New International Version are in relationship to the translators of the King James Version. Thanks to the inspiration of God through Moses and/or the translators between Moses' original language and the Ancient Hebrew, Israel and its Levitical and rabbinical scholars never generally believed the Sabbath was intended for anyone else but them, and they generally always believed the Sabbath was introduced for the first time in the history of the world with the giving of the Manna. 29: A Short History of the Watchtower Organization
... It meant that this Adventist splinter group had not remained defeated, as others had, when Christ failed to appear in 1874 as Adventist leaders had predicted; somehow this small group had managed to hold onto the date by affirming that the Lord had indeed returned at the appointed time, only invisibly. Was this mere wishful thinking, coupled with a stubborn refusal to admit the error of failed chronological calculations? Perhaps, but Barbour had some arguments to offer in support of his assertions. In particular, he came up with a basis for reinterpreting the Second Coming as an invisible event: In Benjamin Wilson's Emphatic Diaglott translation of the New Testament the word rendered coming in the King James Version at Matthew 24:27, 37, 39 is translated presence instead. This served as the basis for Barbour's group to advocate, in addition to their time calculations, an invisible presence of Christ. Although the idea appealed to young Charles Taze Russell, the reading public ... ...

30: Why I left the Roman Catholic church! (personal testimony)
... Reared As A Catholic My father was a Catholic and was largely educated by the monks. My mother, who survives him, was not and is not, a Catholic. However, she permitted him to rear us children as Catholics. We attended a parochial school in the beginning of our formal education. We went to confession, took communion, attended mass and studied the Catechism. But my mother encouraged our study of the Bible and I recall quite well that often she gave us Bibles as presents and the text would be King James version. For where I am today, I owe much to her through the grace of God. Doctrine Of Depravity Of Infants Causes Discontent If memory serves me rightly, the first thing that caused me to suspect the fallacy of the Catholic Church and, consequently, the beginning of the "why" I left that apostate body is this reading which I found in the Bible: ". . . Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven' " (Matthew 19:14). Though ... ...

"In English, the plural of cherub is cherubs; in Hebrew, the plural is cherubim, except that the King James Version of the Bible erroneously translates the plural as cherubims. The Book of Mormon (Alma 12:21; 42:2-3) the Pearl of Great Price (Moses 4:31) and the Inspired Version of the Bible (Ex. 25:20-22) give the plural as cherubim." ... We find evidence of both good and clumsy Greek in various diverse settings indicating that: "No matter how very superficial and sketchy that knowledge was, many from all layers of society understood it and were able to speak and write it." While this does not lead us to the conclusion that Jesus mainly spoke Greek to His disciples and audiences, it does mean that it is quite plausible that Jesus spoke Greek on some occasions (e.g., perhaps when He was in the Decapolis or when He spoke with the Syro-phonecian woman)." W.; The Problematic Translation of "emptied himself" as found in Philippians 2.7; Quarterly Record no. 538, 1997; Trinitarian Bible Society · Many modern versions have created grave theological problems in Philippians 2.7. Translations such as the New American Standard Bible, the American Standard Version, the Revised Standard Version, the Revised Version, the J. N. This rendering has produced numerous problems for the Christian church. · Many translators of the Bible during the Reformation and after recognized the problems with translating the verb kenow as "emptied". Men such as William Tyndale, Cranmer, the translators of the Geneva Bible and the translators of the Authorised (King James) Version rendered this word metaphorically or figuratively rather than literally. To consider the words "EGO EIMI" as a term of self-designation (name or title) leaves the sentence without a main verb and would therefore not be a intelligible complete sentence. 43: The Dugger-Porter Debate on Sunday as the Lord's Day
... Reference is again made to Heb. 4:8, and the expression, "Would he not afterward have spoken of another day," is used to prove he did not speak of another day. But it shows the very reverse. Verse 7 says he did speak of another day through David a long time after they had received the Sabbath . But he would not have done so if the Canaan rest or the seventh day rest had been the rest Paul says remains for the people of God. Whether it was Jesus or Joshua does not change the meaning. The marginal reading of the King James Version says Joshua; so does the reading in the Revised Version. Check it for yourself. His return to the references in Acts gives him no help. I fully blasted him from his position on this in the first proposition. He found where Paul on the Sabbath day "reasoned with them out of the Scriptures as his manner was." But he needs to find a text that says "his manner was" to "observe the Sabbath ." This he has signally failed to do. No, if I couldn't find better proof in ... ...

... When the pressure became so great on the Catholic church on the point of the laity not having the Bible, they brought out their own version, the Douay Bible, and refuse to accept any other version. Our Bible is translated by 148 of the world's ripest scholars, yet they talk about the errors in the Bible, and have much to say concerning 2,000 errors in the King James Bible. As for the 2,000 errors in the Bible, so much mentioned, they con-sist of such slight things as punctuation marks, obsolete words, typographical mistakes and errors of copyists, but not one single error in the translation of our English Bible involves the integrity of the word of God-not one vital error. That cannot be said of the Douay version. The criticism is a dodge on the part of the Catholic church to keep the Bible out of the hands of their members, and to give their members their own arbitrary interpretation, which they call a translation, but which in many instances is not based on the Greek words of the ... ...

50: The false doctrine of Roman Catholic apostolic succession!
... This is another example of their twisting of the Scriptures to prove their own doctrine. The Greek word "presbyter" does not mean "priest" and no reputable Greek scholar has ever rendered it as such. The word simply means "an old man, an elder." He had to have "believing children" (Titus 1:6), and, thus, only older men were qualified. Catholic officials in their translations of Scripture insert the word "priest" into verses where it does not belong. In the Catholic Rheims Version, Acts 14:23 is translated, "And when they had ordained to them priests in every church..." All reputable Versions of the Scriptures, the King James, New King James, American Standard, New American Standard, etc., render this verse, "And when they had ordained elders in every church..." The word used in the verse is "presbuteros," which mean "elders" and not the word "hiereus" which is "priests." When one checks all the Greek texts, he finds that no variations exist; each contain the word "presbuteros." We can ... ...
