This is one of several places where original documents and writings of E. White were kept. Historically, access was highly restricted. Even SDA Pastors and leaders were highly restricted from viewing certain documents of E.G White's writings and diaries. Access to certain sections was simply not permitted. It is generally understood that access was restricted because if the information about White became public, it would devastate the SDA denomination. In this regard, the SDA's share another quality with the Mormons (Joseph Smith) in that both were born of the same time and both house a vault of documents that only the highest officials are permitted access to. After the death of Arthur White in about 1995 a new era of openness began.
