To Facebook & Instagram Users: Just A Little Reminder

Preparing material for future preaching, I’ve been looking at the dangers associated with social media – I mean, for Christians. In future issues of EF, I’ll share more of what I have discovered, especially for parents to be well informed.

I had this thought: Today, we take pictures we would never have taken 20 years ago. And we show those pictures to people we would never have shared them with 20 years ago.

So what? Just the fact we are taking more pictures and sharing more pictures isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It all depends on what the pictures capture. My challenge for you is, pull up the last couple of weeks of pictures you have posted on Facebook and Instragram. Simple question: What do those picture say about you?

They may say something completely innocent, even worthy of praise: your love for your grandchildren, your interests in a better country, your concern about the Lord’s church, your hobby, your business, the weather where you live. No problem.

But are those pictures showing more of you and your family than people need to see? Are those pictures disturbing people who thought better of you? Are those shared pictures revealing an unholy side of your life? Do your pictures raise questions about you?

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you POST, do all to the glory of God,” (1 Cor. 10:31).
