The Chinese character for righteousness (¸q) is formed from two words:

¯Ì is sacrifice, where the lamb is set upon a fire. Thus ¯Ì¦Ï is a sacrifical lamb. The Chinese character for righteousness is then "a sacrificial lamb covering me". In the Bible, we read:
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29)
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, (1 Peter 3:18)
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19)
